My first memory behind the camera was in the early 2000’s using one of those cheap bright orange and yellow disposable cameras. I followed my dad around and tried to mimic him capturing our family Christmas.  I remember waiting eagerly for the film to process at our local drug store, then ripping into the package as soon as they were ready.  I sat there disappointed as I flipped through pictures of the floor, a blurry Christmas tree, a smiling aunt with the top of her face out of frame.  But I will never forget what my dad told me, “Jenny just keep at it baby girl, you’ve got this!”

gradIt wasn’t until my time as an ADPi at Appalachian State University that I truly started taking photography seriously.  Surrounded by that same encouragement I found in my dad that day in 2000, my sisters pushed me towards following my dream.  I have several vivid memories of Alpha Class photo shoots, laughing until our bellies ached trying to get that perfect “candid”.  These seemed like small moments then, but now looking back I can say they made me the woman I am today.

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetI graduated in 2016 and after studying design in Paris for two months I moved to Charlotte, NC.  It’s my dream, a big city with a small town feel.  I get to wake up everyday and set my own hours. I’m blessed enough to work with the sweetest couples and get to be a part of the best day of their lives.  ADPi has been a catalyst for my business and not only gave me the organizational/leadership skills to be a small business owner; it gave me the lifelong friends I needed to support me along the way.

Just this year alone I was able to work along side two fellow sisters and photographers.  I am thrilled for 2018 and the love I know I will get to soak in and capture.
