Grand Convention is less than four months away, but did you know planning for this convention started in 2015? The International President, Executive Director, and Meeting Planner chose the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa as our 2019 convention location four years ago. As Alpha Delta Pi’s Meeting Planner, I got to go check it out in September, and let me tell you – there is SO much to be excited about. Here are my top 5 reasons you should be pumped for Grand Convention this summer!
#5 West Coast Sisters
While in Las Vegas for our site visit in September, we were able to meet with the local Alpha Delta Pi alumnae that live in the area. It was great to pick their brains on what makes Las Vegas special to them and get their feedback on how we can make sure you all, as attendees, walk away feeling the Vegas love. They were also so eager to get started helping in whatever way they can. I look forward to getting to know them better and work with them to make this convention one to be remembered. You may see some of these local alumnae, as well as some of Epsilon Rho collegiate women, around during your time at convention. Make sure to thank them for their fantastic hospitality.
#4 ADPi’s Got A Whole New ‘Do
Want to see what the new ADPi brand is going to look like? I know you do! Convention is the best place to take in all the excitement of our new look! Get ready for an ADPi explosion. During our site visit, we scouted every opportunity to display the new brand, because our goal is for you to see it everywhere you look. You’ll feel the same pride for this organization as you did the first day you slipped on your ADPi letters. And with a new brand, comes new swag. Why miss out on the chance to gather up as much as you can?!
#3 Vegas Baby!
If you’ve ever been to Las Vegas, you could probably write this reason all by yourself with your own reasons why you love it. If you’ve never been to Las Vegas, you are in for a T-R-E-A-T! Vegas is a city that always has something to admire. Whether it be the fountain show at the Bellagio, the flashing lights of someone winning big, or just the sheer size of some of the hotels, you will not be bored. Although we didn’t bet any money, we enjoyed watching others hit the jackpot. All in one day’s time, we soaked in rays at the pool, had dinner in the Venetian’s fake Italian street square, attended Mystère, a Cirque Du Soleil masterpiece, and one of the many shows to see in Vegas. Now don’t get me wrong, we did our fair share of work on this trip, but its hard not to enjoy all the fun this city has to offer.
#2 A Life of Luxury
Now, if you’ve looked up the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, you might be thinking, “but Betsy, this place isn’t on the strip?!” Well, I am here to tell you, that doesn’t even matter; this property is THAT FANTASTIC! Don’t worry, the strip is only a short distance away, but I have a strong feeling you might not even want to bother once you see where you’ll be staying. Red Rock is an iconic casino that has been used in movies and TV shows. Their hotel rooms have you thinking you won’t ever want to leave… or that you now want to redecorate your own home! Sunshine your thing? The pool is one of a kind and the perfect backdrop for your next Instagram. And don’t even get me started on the spa… it’s what dreams are made of! Not to mention all the other activities you can find right there in the hotel. There’s a bowling alley, a movie theater, a dance club, and more restaurants than you can even get to during your stay. The luxury of Red Rock and the hospitality of their staff had me feeling like an A-List celebrity. I could go on and on about this place, and I can’t wait to hear what your favorite part is!
#1 Feasts, Friends, and Fun
Now, I know you’re probably thinking no matter how great the city or hotel is, it doesn’t matter because we will all be stuck in the same old ballrooms looking at ugly carpet and walls without windows. I mean this in the nicest way, but… WRONG! Even the programming sessions, like the meals or educational sessions, will be infused with every creative and unique twist possible. The focus of this convention is FUN! In our time at Red Rock, we met with the AV company, the chef, and every other department in between to make sure everything you do during convention will include something exciting. Now, you know I can’t give away any spoilers, but I have a feeling you will need to pull your phone out more than a few times to make sure you capture all the magic on your Instagram story.
