Please see our Expansion page for information.

What are the benefits of joining Alpha Delta Pi?
The benefits are numerous. For collegians we provide life skills like leadership development through holding chapter offices, encouragement and assistance to foster scholastic achievement and stress the importance of higher education, opportunities to serve our communities through philanthropic events, and lasting, lifelong friendships. Our Total Membership Education program offers our members timely, relevant programming to help develop well-rounded women. Membership in Alpha Delta Pi is not just for four years. It's for a lifetime.

Does Alpha Delta Pi haze?
Hazing is absolutely prohibited in any chapter of Alpha Delta Pi. It is defined as any situation which creates mental or physical abuse, discomfort, embarrassment, ridicule, or harassment, whether on or away from sorority property.

What is your policy regarding membership selection?
Alpha Delta Pi actively encourages a membership which represents a diverse population, and does not discriminate in membership selection procedures on the basis of race, color, religious affiliation or disability. Alpha Delta Pi selects and maintains membership on the basis of scholarship, leadership, service, and commitment to the work of the sorority, the college/university, and the local community.

No Pledges Do you have pledges?
No. Our new members are called Alphas. They have the same rights and privileges that initiated members, or Deltas, have.

After I accept a bid, what can I expect as a new member?
After accepting a bid, a woman becomes an Alpha member and participates in a four to six week program that culminates with initiation. This program is designed to educate each new member about the history of her local chapter, the international organization, and campus community while providing her with opportunities to spend time with her Diamond Sister and other members of her Pride.

If an Alpha member inherits a badge from her mother or grandmother, must she still purchase a badge prior to initiation?
Every Alpha must purchase a badge prior to initiation. An Alpha member may wear her own badge or she has the option to wear the badge of a family member or friend following initiation.

What are the GPA requirements for members in Alpha Delta Pi?
Alpha Delta Pi is committed to high academic standards for membership, and expects each of its members to exemplify that commitment through classroom attendance and performance. The philosophy for high academic achievement was established by our founders and is present in all of our chapters today.

Incoming freshmen that participate in Recruitment must have a 2.6 high school cumulative GPA. Second semester freshmen must have a 2.2 cumulative college GPA and meet any Panhellenic requirements. Each chapter and all upper class members are expected to maintain a cumulative GPA at or above the Panhellenic average or the all-college women’s average on campus, whichever is higher.

We are proud to report that 96 of our chapters had a chapter GPA above a 3.0 for the fall of 2008 and 102 chapters had a chapter GPA above a 3.0 for the spring of 2008.

How does Alpha Delta Pi support members with their academics?
All members are expected to support and participate in the chapter scholarship programs, furnish the chapter Scholarship Chair with their grades, and seek help when there is a potential problem. Chapters provide a list of members available for tutoring or other assistance to a sister who is having academic difficulty. Chapters are encouraged to plan educational programs on test-taking tips, study skills, motivation, time management, career planning skills, and other related topics.
