National Panhellenic Conference
National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is the co-operating body of women's fraternities established to maintain on a high plane fraternity life and inter-fraternity relationships, to cooperate with college authorities in their efforts to maintain high social and scholarship standards throughout the whole college, and to be a forum for the discussion of questions of interest to the college and the fraternity world.
Twenty-Six National Sororities, or women's fraternities, comprise National Panhellenic Conference which functions through a biennial meeting. One officer from each member fraternity acts as that group's voting delegate. In addition, each group is entitled to send three alternate delegates. Interim administration is by the Executive Committee--the Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. This committee is assisted by a number of standing committees, with each fraternity's delegate serving on at least one such committee.
The NPC Officers are determined by a rotation system. Alpha Delta Pi has had the distinction of holding the NPC Chairmanship twice. From 1928 to 1930, Irma Tapp of Omicron Chapter at Duke University and former Grand President of Alpha Delta Pi, served as NPC Chairman. Alpha Delta Pi was again represented in this office when Virginia Jacobsen, Alpha Theta—University of Washington, was NPC Chairman from 1973 to 1975.
Your chapter is an important member of your local College Panhellenic Council. See that it gives its best in leadership and loyalty to further the principles of fraternity. Carry on the proud tradition of Alpha Delta Pi for fair play and adherence to rules, leading the way to true panhellenic cooperation.
