Summary of Position:

The Chapter Advisory Board is the immediate supervisor for a collegiate chapter. The members are responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of the chapter’s goals and plans through interaction with the District Team, chapter officers, and other personnel. The entire Advisory Board works together to advise and support not only the officers of a collegiate chapter, but also all chapter members.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

An Advisory Board Member is expected to:

  • Be a role model for collegians and alumnae.
  • Have extensive knowledge of the policies and procedures of Alpha Delta Pi, including but not limited to the current Bylaws, Ritual Book, Chapter Operations Book, NPC Manual of Information, and manuals relating to the specific area of supervision
  • Familiarity with the Alpha Delta Pi website (www.alphadeltapi.org)
  • Be aware of resources available.
  • Have good interpersonal, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Be a team player, a good listener and communicator.
  • Have a good sense of humor, an open mind, and the ability to think creatively.
  • Make decisions in a timely and knowledgeable manner.
  • Represent the Sorority in a professional manner both internally and externally.
  • Have organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Be willing to firmly support sorority policies and procedures in spite of resistance from collegiate or alumnae members.
  • Be open to new ideas, change and continuous learning.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

An Advisory Board Member is expected to:

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Board
  • Understand and monitor the roles, responsibilities, and plans of chapter officers under her supervision.
  • Participate in chapter activities including, but not limited to, calendar planning, goal setting, election process, officer transition, recruitment planning and execution, and annual Bylaws revision.
  • Participate in chapter ritual activities and emphasize correct implementation and proper respect.
  • Review and approve all plans and reports.
  • Ensure effective risk management is practiced at all times.
  • Approve all social events, ensuring completion of all necessary paperwork and compliance with all Alpha Delta Pi policies.
  • Initiate regular communication with the Chapter Officers and the International Officers on the District Team.
  • Maintain a relationship with and support the local area Alumnae Association on behalf of the chapter and encourage support and participation from the association.
  • Develop and cultivate a relationship with appropriate University personnel.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with the University community.
