Awards Information

Collegiate Awards

Alpha Delta Pi awards motivate and recognize individuals in their quest for achievement. The Alpha Delta Pi award process provides individuals guidelines for applying for these awards. The goal of the award program is to create positive momentum, celebrate successes, and reward the highest level of excellence in our sisterhood.

Individual Collegiate Awards are given annually. Criteria and application dates are listed below.

Collegiate Ruth Pretty Palmer Panhellenic Award

  • Involved with campus Panhellenic
  • Display outstanding leadership in her local Panhellenic, Fraternity/Sorority Life Council, regional Greek Conference, etc.
  • Applications open each year on September 1 and are due December 1. Winners are announced the following spring and are recognized again at the annual summer meeting.

Emerging Leader Award

  • Freshman or Sophomore member who has shown great leadership ability or potential
  • 3.14 cumulative college GPA
  • Lives our Creed and has impacted her chapter in her short time as a member.
  • Applications open each year on September 1 and are due December 1. Winners are announced the following spring and are recognized again at the annual summer meeting.

Dorothy Shaw Leadership Award

  • Current Junior or Senior
  • 3.40 GPA and is active in her chapter as well as on campus
  • Supporting letters and information as requested on application form
  • This award may only be won once in a lifetime. If not selected, applicants who are eligible may reapply the following year.
  • Applications open each year on December 1 and are due April 1. Winners are recognized at the annual summer meeting.

Collegiate Philanthropy Volunteer of the Year

  • Complete part 7 of the annual Chapter Philanthropy Report
  • Letter of nomination from the Chapter President or Chapter Philanthropy Chair, an advisor, or other Alpha Delta Pi member in good standing
  • Attach nomination to the completed annual Chapter Philanthropy Report
  • Other Considerations
    • Personal commitment and dedication
    • Quality and quantity of involvement
    • Impact on the lives of those she is helping
    • Impact as a role model
    • Additional letters of support for her nomination
    • Applications are due April 1. Winners are announced at the annual summer meeting.

Alumnae Awards

Individual Alumnae Awards are given only during Grand Convention years. Applications for the Alumnae Awards open September 15 and close November 15. If a recipient can attend Grand Convention she will be recognized there. If a recipient cannot attend Grand Convention, alternate arrangements for recognition can be made. Criteria for each award is listed below.

All awards are open for self-nomination, but nominations from others will also be accepted. If you know a sister that is deserving of an individual alumnae award you can submit a nomination here. Executive Office will notify this sister of her nomination and prompt her to complete a brief award application. Submitting this form does not guarantee she will be considered for this award. She must complete the online award application to accept your nomination and be considered for the award.

Alumnae Ruth Pretty Palmer Panhellenic Award

  • Involved with local alumnae Panhellenic
  • Display outstanding leadership in her local alumnae Panhellenic

Mary Esther Hedley Van Akin Advisor of the Year Award

  • Serve as a role model to collegians by demonstrating loyalty and dedication to Alpha Delta Pi
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of service (does not have to be to the same chapter or for 5 consecutive years)
  • Financial support through the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, Inc. and annual alumnae ReMember Dues

Joan Perry Boatright Loyalty Award

  • Active participation and service as an alumna member in an alumnae association, supporting a collegiate chapter, as an International Officer, or in special projects
  • Leadership as an officer on the local, state, district, or international level
  • Financial support through the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, Inc. and ReMember Dues
  • Assistance to collegiate chapter and participation in community or professional organizations. Consideration will be given to length of service.

Virginia Rosenberg Stafford Young Alumna Award

  • Active participation in an alumnae association
  • Service as an officer of an alumnae association, house corporation, or previous International Officer
  • Financial support through the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, Inc. and ReMember Dues
  • Assistance to a collegiate chapter
  • Participation in community or professional organizations. Consideration will be given to length of service.

Mary Bull Mason Outstanding Alumnae Achievement Award

  • Active participation in community organizations, holding an office in her community or service organizations at the local, state, or international level.
  • Being recognized for contributions by the community organizations

Outstanding Alumnae Achievement Award for Contribution to Profession

  • Active participation and leadership in professional organizations
  • Holding an office in professional organizations
  • Being recognized within the profession and organization for achievements and impactful participation in community organizations
