We are so excited that your daughter or family member has chosen Alpha Delta Pi! As the first secret society for college women founded at the first institution chartered to grant degrees to women, we are proud to continue our tradition of being the first. Our members are leaders on campus, in their communities, and in their professions. Your daughter, as an ADPi, has a lifetime of sisterhood and opportunity in front of her.
A note to family and friends:
Alpha Delta Pi values and encourages the involvement of our members’ friends and family. However, as a private membership organization, we strive to protect the privacy of our collegiate and alumnae members. As such, on matters of membership status, discipline, and certain financial issues, the member must provide permission for an Alpha Delta Pi staff member or volunteer to discuss her situation with a parent or family member. The member can learn more about the process for submitting a release form on Pride Online.
Stay in touch
We look forward to staying in touch with you! Be sure your ADPi has submitted your email address through her Pride Online account in order to receive our quarterly Family Chronicle, a digital newsletter with updates and information about the organization and our current projects and initiatives. Check out the archive of past Family Chronicles below.
About Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Delta Pi’s mission is to provide women with a meaningful lifelong experience that empowers them to reach their full potential through leadership, educational, philanthropic and social opportunities. Since the founding of The Adelphean Society, our organization has operated with a set of values to motivate our members and guide our actions. These values are sisterhood, service, character, and knowledge. You may hear these referred to as the Four Points of our diamond-shaped badge. Our goal is that the actions of our members – both collegiate and alumnae – reflect these values as a foundation of our aim to Be The First.
Alpha Delta Pi housing & facilites
We are excited to share the Alpha Delta Pi member experience with your student! At many of our chapters, the member experience includes living in an Alpha Delta Pi facility. Alpha Delta Pi facilities range in function (from meeting-room only spaces to dormitory oors to large private residences) and range in capacity, from accommodating seven to 120 members. Each collegiate chapter determines how their facility remains fully occupied, so your student may have the opportunity and responsibility to live in her facility at some time during her membership. Living in the chapter facility is an exciting way to enhance the collegiate member experience by sharing daily life with sister-friends! Alpha Delta Pi facilities are owned, operated, and managed in a variety of ways, so your student’s experience will be unique to her chapter and facility while remaining true to our policies and standards. Alpha Delta Pi is committed to providing the best experience possible for each member in any facility. Click here to learn more about Alpha Delta Pi Facilities. We are excited to have your student come home to Alpha Delta Pi!
The Alpha Delta Pi foundation
Alpha Delta Pi is generously supported by the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation provides dozens of opportunities to our members through emergency grants, scholarships, leadership training, programming and resources. Throughout the year, opportunities will be shared with members about how to get involved and support the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. Click HERE to learn more about the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation.
Did you know that we have resources available for undergraduate and alumnae members in financial distress? The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation offers one-time emergency grants for collegians who would otherwise be forced to withdraw from school and for alumnae members who find themselves in financial distress due to severe medical or family problems, natural disasters, or other emergency circumstances. The Abigail Davis Grant (for undergraduate members) may only be used for tuition, books, or school fees. Grants may not be used for sorority dues or room and board. For more information on our emergency grant programs, visit the Foundation website.
Involvement with Alpha Delta Pi
ADPi Academy
Your ADPi will have an opportunity to hold an officer role in her chapter! ADPi Academy weekend include engaging training experiences designed to build essential knowledge, skills, and abilities for collegiate officers, all while connecting them with Alpha Delta Pi at a larger scale. This program also included meetings among chapters within the same districts, time for chapters to meet with volunteers, and training for advisors. We hold break-out sessions, networked with collegiate peers and alumnae, awarded chapter achievements, and immersed ourselves in best practices for supporting our chapter members. With support from the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation, ADPi Academy is just one of the many education and leadership programs we offer to our undergraduate leaders, along with ongoing virtual and in-person training for office holders.
Collegiate Advisory Committee
Each year, Alpha Delta Pi seeks outstanding collegiate leaders to apply for this opportunity to provide their input and perspective on ADPi initiatives and processes as well as trends impacting our campuses, chapters, and organization. The deadline for submitting applications typically falls in December. Please encourage your collegiate member to be on the lookout for this opportunity later in the fall semester.
Executive Office Internship
The Alpha Delta Pi Executive Office Internship Program is a 6-week summer experience designed to help empower young collegiate members by providing professional experience working for an international not-for-profit organization. Executive Office, located in Atlanta, GA, manages the business and financial functions of the organization, supporting all 150+ chapters across the United States and Canada. The deadline for submitting applications typically falls in December. Please encourage your collegiate member to be on the lookout for this opportunity later in the fall semester.
National Panhellenic Conference
As a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, your daughter is also a member of her college Panhellenic Association. This is a governing body made up of representatives from each sorority on her campus. The college Panhellenic is a local affiliate of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Your daughter’s sorority experience is designed to enhance her education beyond the content of her classroom coursework. You may be aware of social events, sisterhood activities, and philanthropic fund-raising or community service she’s enjoying. Sorority programming seeks to educate members about personal health and safety, tips for professional success, and a variety of valuable life skills. Some of this education takes place within individual chapters, but often there is a benefit to combining resources from every chapter. This is a function of the Panhellenic Association. College Panhellenic Associations (CPA) have access to high quality programs available at little or no cost through NPC. Your daughter’s CPA will sponsor speakers or workshops throughout the school year. Examples include Month of the Scholar (February), Women’s History Month (March), Campus Safety Awareness and Hazing Prevention (September).Women who are elected to officer and committee leadership positions within Panhellenic gain valuable training and experience in project and personnel management, financial budgeting, and networking. Sorority women learn to hold themselves and others accountable to shared values and standards of responsible behavior. Just as Alpha Delta Pi relies on alumnae volunteers to advise and mentor our collegiate sisters, college Panhellenic Associations have alumnae advisors available to them. In addition, sorority women all over the country belong to geographically based Alumnae Panhellenic Associations. These groups contribute to the sorority experience of your daughter and others by offering annual scholarships that help to pay for textbooks or sorority fees. Your daughter has many wonderful qualities that she brings to Alpha Delta Pi, and it’s our intention the chapter will help amplify her voice. When Alpha Delta Pi sisters join with their Panhellenic sisters, that voice can become a powerful roar that leads to positive personal and community growth
NPC Scholarship
The National Panhellenic Conference Foundation (NPC Foundation) accepts scholarship applications for awards each academic year. Scholarship opportunities are available for outstanding undergraduate and graduate members of Panhellenic sororities. Encourage your student to review eligibility requirements and consider applying.
