In late June, Alpha Delta Pi will celebrate our sisterhood at the 166th Anniversary img_0210Convention, “Lion in the Sun” in Hollywood, Florida! Collegians and alumnae from all parts of the United States and Canada will gather together to celebrate our sisterhood and it’s many traditions.

Since the first convention in 1906, Grand Convention has been an exciting time and is an opportunity to connect with other Alpha Delta Pi sisters. Convention is a time to make new friends, renew old acquaintances, be filled with Alpha Delta Pi spirit, renew bonds of sisterhood and participate in processes to secure the future of Alpha Delta Pi.

Many sisters do not have the opportunity to experience Grand Convention as a voting delegate, but did you know that Alpha Delta Pi offers grants for both alumnae and collegiate sisters to attend Grand Convention? We are excited to announce that grant applications are now open!

The Annie Anderson Legacy Grant is for collegiate women from chapters in the state of Georgia only. It covers the costs of registration, which includes programming, lodging and meals. It does not cover transportation. This application must be signed by your Chapter Advisor and Collegiate Province Director so make sure that you ask them in plenty of time to meet the application deadline. Recipients of this grant must also commit to serve the chapter as an officer for one calendar year after attending Grand Convention.

The Lortz Legacy Lion’s Share Grant is for collegiate members from any chapter. This grant is made possible by a gift from a dedicated and loyal alumna, Chris Lortz. Like the Annie Anderson Legacy Grant, it covers the costs of registration, which includes programming, lodging and meals. It does not cover transportation. The application must be signed by your Chapter Advisor and Collegiate Province Director, and recipients must commit to serve the chapter as an officer for one calendar year after attending Grand Convention.

The Sally Blackburn Dozier Grant is for alumnae currently serving as an advisor.  This grant covers the registration fee but does not include transportation.

Ebony Rose, Zeta-Southwestern, Membership Education Advisor for Gamma Chi-Texas Christian had this to say about her experience, “As a recipient of the 2015 Dozier Grant I was able to experiencimg_3140e convention as a different type of participant, that of an advisor. While this was my third Grand Convention, it was my first as an advisor which provided me the opportunity to experience the week with collegians representing the Gamma Chi chapter.  It truly was a gift seeing the women understand our sisterhood in a whole new way and have their Alpha Delta Pi experience expanded by connecting with sisters from across the country and Canada. Our conversations during and after convention were more meaningful and brought us closer together; things I don’t think would have been possible without our attendance.  The Dozier Grant expanded my view as an advisor and reminded me of how our inter-generational sisterhood really represents the evolving history of our organization.”

Please note, you do not have to be the chapter advisor to apply for this grant. Any advisory board member is welcome to apply!

Applications are due April 1st, 2017 and can be found on the Alpha Delta Pi website, under Pride Online, Member Resources, Awards Materials. All applications should be submitted through email to awards@alphadeltapi.com. Please include only the following text in the subject line: (Applicant’s Last Name) Grant Name Application Example: Fitzgerald Dozier Advisor Grant Application.

We hope you will consider applying for a grant to attend Grand Convention 2017!  It is an experience that will deepen your Alpha Delta Pi membership even more.
