Whether we are having lunch with the International President, Stacy Bruton, visiting Macon, Georgia, or volunteering at the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House, there is never a dull moment as an Executive Office Intern! We’ve come from all around the United States, from Alaska to Florida, to learn more about Alpha Delta Pi, each other, and to make memories along the way!

This year, eight of us are lucky enough to spend the summer in Atlanta during a convention year! Grand Convention is a biennial event where sisters from across the country and Canada come together to connect and share our sisterhood. As a collegiate member of the Epsilon Rho chapter, I have always dreamed about getting the opportunity to attend Grand Convention.

I remember being an Alpha and hearing Deltas talk about their unforgettable experience at Grand Convention. From that moment on, I knew that no matter what, I would get to Grand Convention before I graduated. As an intern, I get the best of both worlds! Not only do I get to attend Grand Convention, but I get to work with Executive Office Staff to help prepare!

Now I know what you’re thinking…What do the interns do all day around EO? Well here it is… a day in our lives:

IMG_0545 28:30 a.m. Alarms are going off, and we begin our day! We get ready upstairs at Alpha Delta Pi Memorial Headquarters.

8:45 a.m. Coffee is brewing and showers have started!

9:30 a.m. We meet downstairs in the Training Room of Executive Office (such a long commute).

9:45 a.m. Meg Hoffay (a.k.a. Mama Meg) has given us our tasks for the day, and the work day is in full swing!

9:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We start working on our designated tasks. Right now, most of us are helping staff prepare for Grand Convention.

Convention is such an exciting time to be at Executive Office! There are boxes to pack, photo booths to plan, presentations to put together, Hobby Lobby runs to make, display tables to plan (my personal favorite), blogs to write, workshops to attend, and so much more!

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. It’s lunch time! As interns, we have access to a kitchen upstairs in Memorial Headquarters.

1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Back to work! We finish up any tasks we were working on earlier in the morning.

The interns had the privilege of planning the June Fun Committee Event. We had all of staff meet in the kitchen at 2 p.m., and we took them out front to a Kona Ice Snow Cone Truck. Every staff member got to cool off with a Snow Cone and take a break from the craziness of convention planning.

As the day ends, we finish up our tasks, and plan our activities for the rest of the night. Last week, we discovered Bruster’s Real Ice Cream (we highly recommend), and I think we will be heading there at least once a week to beat this Atlanta heat!

Between ice cream runs and Atlanta sight-seeing, we are blessed to share these experiences with sisters from all over the country, and we can’t wait to see all our hard work pay off at Grand Convention. We’re only one week away, can you believe it?!
