How many times has this event been held? 11 times!
Tell us about your event. At Zeta Epsilon’s past Lion’s Share Beach Volleyball Challenge, teams would compete against one another to be the last one standing. The beauty of our event is that not only does the public eye get to see what our Zeta Epsilon chapter is about, but they get to have fun and raise money for an amazing cause while doing so.
How did you publicize the event? Did you utilize your special event chair and/or public relations chair any throughout the planning and promotion process? I certainly utilized our Public Relations Chair, Bailey Brite, by collaborating with her on making different graphics for the event. We also made specific graphics when our tournament was one week away and then counted down the days until it was the day of! My sisters of the Zeta Epsilon chapter and I also tabled for two weeks Monday – Thursday to get the word out about raising money and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House. Additionally, I also printed out over 100 flyers and hung them around campus and Pensacola’s community.
How did you involve the entire chapter and get them excited? Involving the chapter was such an easy part because everyone enjoys our Lion’s Share Challenge! Tabling certainly helped involve the chapter and I worked with our Public Relations Chair to have a throwback to Lion’s Share day where sisters submitted their old photos from our beach volleyball tournaments in the past. It means even more to my diamond sisters because it is viewed more as a tradition, due to the fact that we’ve been holding the same event for the past 11 years. Each year it only improves and becomes more fun!
What tips would you offer to other chapters planning a similar event? I would tell them to enjoy their event regardless of how stressful and hectic it may get. Something that I am most proud of is staying calm and enjoying my event rather than feeling overwhelmed. At the end of the day I knew that our chapter did an amazing job raising money for the Ronald McDonald House! I would also tell them to gather as many “right hand sisters” as possible because you will need all the help you can get!
