Renew and ReMember Your Commitment

In the 1994 Winter issue of The Adelphean, Beth Gentry Mannle, former Grand President affectionally referred to as “Mother Mannle,” launched a campaign to encourage alumnae to ReMember Alpha Delta Pi. This was the beginning of our voluntary alumnae dues program known as ReMember Dues. In 1993, Grand Council recognized that our collegiate initiation fees of $55 at the time would not be enough to fund a lifetime subscription of The Adelphean for all our alumnae members. A Bylaws resolution was brought to the 1993 Grand Convention body for a vote. The resolution passed, and a $10 voluntary alumnae dues program was implemented. Mother Mannle submitted a heartfelt call-to-action in The Adelphean

“Not long ago I came across a quotation which included these words:
‘Sow a thought and you reap an act,
Sow an act, and you reap a habit,
Sow a habit, and you reap a character, Sow a character,
       and you reap a destiny.’

It struck me how relevant that verse is to Alpha Delta Pi. When we first became a member of our sorority we are expected to ‘get into’ certain habits…

…get into the habit of studying to reach a desired academic goal
…get into the habit of paying a monthly bill in a timely manner
…get into the habit of doing things for others through our participation in various philanthropic endeavors
…get into the habit of participating in campus and community activities which help develop our potential
…get into the habit of tolerating differences in others whom we call sister
…get into the habit of setting goals and working toward them
…get into the habit of being a team player
…get into the habit of going the extra mile for someone
…get into the habit of appreciating and valuing commitment and loyalty.

These habits once learned and continuously practiced enable us to reap a character that is good and loving, kind and compassionate. Whether you serve your family, your community, your career, or Alpha Delta Pi, or all of these, the habits you practiced as a beginning Alpha Delta Pi are never out of date and never out of style.

As we begin a new year, I hope all alumnae will join me and ‘get into’ the habit of participating in a campaign to ReMember Alpha Delta Pi. All it takes is a voluntary contribution of $10 or more sent to Executive Office, and designated for the ReMember Campaign. ReMember, wherever we go, whatever we do, we are still ‘part of the PRIDE.’”

Loyally,
Beth Gentry Mannle
Grand President

Mother Mannle’s challenge still holds true 25 years later. Each year our alumnae membership grows, as does the cost of providing alumnae services. I am asking you – our alumnae – to “get into the habit” of living our values and giving back to the organization. Today, the asking contribution is $30, but any amount is accepted. Log on to Pride Online for more information and to pay your ReMember Dues.

ReMember Dues are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
